(German version below) After the recently released neckbreaker ‘Circle Of The Scythe’, The Very End now fire their next single after it. The music video for ‘The Famine Years’ was shot at the renowned Zeche Zollverein World Heritage Site.

“It was something very special to shoot in the funnel hall on the grounds of the Zeche Zollverein,”

says guitarist René Bogdanski, who was in action both in front of and behind the camera. Together with his team from the agency Social Media Konzepte, he was also responsible for the complete realization of the music video. The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex is a World Heritage Site.

Second digital single release during the work on the new album

“The song ties in perfectly with the atmosphere of our last album ‘Zeitgeist‘ and develops it further,”

says singer Björn Gooßes. Meanwhile, the songwriting for the new album is in full swing.

“Together with our label Apostasy Records, we have decided to bridge the time until the new album with a series of digitally released singles,”

explains René Bogdanski. Further material is already in the works at the same time

One man’s happiness is another man’s sorrow

As usual, the cover artwork for the current single was created by Björn Gooßes/Killustrations, who is giving the band’s visual trademark, the flying coffin, a break for the singles.

“This time, the motif has been thought out of the box,”

says Gooßes.

“In keeping with the song title, it’s a detail of a group of vultures swooping down on their prey. As we all know, one man’s happiness is another man’s sorrow.”

Proven collaboration with production team Cornelius Rambadt and Dennis Koehne

The band produced the single together with Cornelius Rambadt (Bonded, Disbelief, Sodom…), who was already behind the mixing desk for the last album ‘Zeitgeist’ and the debut ‘Vs. Life‘ behind the mixing desk. As with the last three albums, Dennis Koehne (Caliban, Lacuna Coil, Melechesh, Orden Ogan…) was responsible for mastering.

The Very End veröffentlichen neue Single und Video „The Famine Years“

Nach dem kürzlich erschienenen Nackenbrecher ‘Circle Of The Scythe’ legen The Very End auch schon die nächste Single nach. Das Musikvideo zu ‘The Famine Years’ entstand im renommierten Weltkulturerbe Zeche Zollverein.

„Es war schon etwas sehr Besonderes, in der Trichterhalle auf dem Gelände der Zeche Zollverein zu drehen“,

sagt Gitarrist René Bogdanski, der sowohl vor als auch hinter der Kamera in Aktion war. Zusammen mit seinem Team von der Agentur Social Media Konzepte übernahm er auch die komplette Umsetzung des Musikvideos. Die Zeche Zollverein ist Weltkulturerbe und eines der bekanntesten Wahrzeichen der Industriekultur im Ruhrgebiet, der Home-Base von The Very End.

„Der Song knüpft perfekt an die Atmosphäre unseres letzten Albums ‘Zeitgeist‘ an und entwickelt sie dabei weiter“,

sagt Sänger Björn Gooßes. Das Songwriting zum neuen Album ist derweil in vollem Gange.

„Wir haben zusammen mit unserem Label Apostasy Records beschlossen, die Zeit bis zum neuen Album mit einer Reihe digital veröffentlichter Singles zu überbrücken“,

erläutert Bogdanski. Weiteres Material ist auch bereits parallel in Arbeit.

Des einen Glück ist des anderen Leid

Das Cover-Artwork zur aktuellen Single stammt wie gewohnt von Björn Gooßes/Killustrations, der für die Singles dem visuellen Trademark der Band, dem fliegenden Sarg, eine Pause gönnt.

„Das Motiv ist dieses Mal etwas um die Ecke gedacht“,

so Gooßes.

„Passend zum Songtitel ist das ein Ausschnitt einer Gruppe Aasgeier, die sich auf ihre Beute stürzt. Des einen Glück ist bekanntlich des anderen Leid.“

Die Band hat die Single zusammen mit Cornelius Rambadt (Bonded, Disbelief, Sodom…) produziert, der bereits für das letzte Album „Zeitgeist“ und auch schon das Debut ‘Vs. Life‘ hinterm Mischpult saß. Das Mastering hat, wie auch schon bei den letzten drei Alben, Dennis Koehne (Caliban, Lacuna Coil, Melechesh, Orden Ogan…) übernommen.
